University of Music Carl Maria von Weber Dresden

The University of Music Carl Maria von Weber Dresden is one of the oldest of its kind in Germany. Its origin is closely related to such names as Carl Maria von Weber, Francesco Morlacchi and Richard Wagner. Today, more than 600 young people from all over the world come to Dresden to study their passion: music.

The university offers an exceptional broad variety of courses on an outstanding level. Besides the Opera Class and an education in orchestra playing, the profile of the Dresden University of Music is completed by intense work on fields as New Music and Jazz/Rock/Pop as well as musicology and pedagogy.

Collaborations with orchestras, theatres and educational institutions ensure a strong practical training. Especially notable is the close relationship with both of the big orchestras in Dresden: the Sächsische Staatskapelle and the Dresdner Philharmonie.
